Reputed for the excellence of wines from vineyards at high altitudes, the upper valley of the Aude, with red clay soils dating back to the cretaceous era (at the end of the Jurassic period) , is also the principal fossil deposit of the last dinosaurs and their eggs in Europe. Our vine growers regularly make astonishing discoveries of the traces of their precursors (living between 65 and 75 million years ago) in the red clay soils of our vineyards.
