D118

IGP Cité de Carcassonne Red

HISTORY

Quillan, Couiza, Alet-les-Bains, Cournanel, Limoux, Pieusse, Cépie, Pomas, Rouffiac d’Aude, Preixan, Maquens, Carcassonne. The Department route 118 passes through all of these towns and villages.
The D118 route, linking our vineyards from the Pyrenees to Carcassonne along the banks of the Aude river, is part of our history.

VINEYARD

Our vines are planted on limestone and clay soils, between Rouffiac d’Aude and Preixan, in view of the medieval Cité of Carcassonne.

GRAPE VARIETIES

Merlot, Marselan, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon.

VINIFICATION

Each variety is vinified separately in a traditional manner. The wines are then blended.

TASTING NOTES

D118 is bright red in colour with fresh red fruit on the nose. Full bodied on the palate, rich with ripe fruit, elegant and well balanced. The aromas of red berry fruit return with a suggestion of pear or cherry brandy.

FOOD PAIRING

D118 will be a perfect companion for a rare beef tartare, a duck’s breast or grilled poultry. It will also be surprising with stone grilled Mediterranean red mullet.
